Conformada por imágenes propias y de archivo, Smail se desarrolla en torno a San Miguel de Allende, ciudad redescubierta entre las décadas de 1950 y 1970 por una colonia de estadounidenses y europeos (expats) que llegaron a Guanajuato. Este paraíso liberal brindaba entonces la oportunidad de vivir el exceso, la locura y un sueño de vida con tan sólo unos cuantos dólares.
En esta serie reinterpreto los complejos personajes y lugares que coexisten actualmente detrás de esa imagen de pueblo mágico proyectada por el sector turístico.
Consisting of pictures shot by Bo himself as well as archival images, Smail is set in San Miguel de Allende, a town rediscovered between the 1950s and 70s by a colony of American and European expats moving to the state of Guanajuato. At the time, the liberal context allowed them to live a life of excess, fantasy and reverie for a fraction of the cost of their countries of origin.
In this series I reinterpret the complex figures and sites that currently remain half-concealed behind this image of the idyllic village, or pueblo mágico, as it has been branded by the ministry of tourism.

He also participated in the 18th Encuentro Nacional de Fototecas 2017, organized by the INAH, and he was a finalist of the Concurso RM Fotolibro Iberoamericano (RM Latin American Photobook Award) 2013.
